I love fun songs and songs with a good Ooh-ooh (Ooh ooh). Today's Song of the Day is from the British Pop/New Wave band ABC. 1987, they gave us a great track, "When Smokey Sings."
The song celebrates the legendary Smokey Robinson. It's an upbeat and soulful song with happy, positive lyrics. It's a song about celebrating another artist. Amazingly, in 2024, most songs are about tearing others down. Oh, how the world has changed! The song became ABC's second Top 10 hit on the Hot 100, reaching #5. Ironically, Smokey Robinson was in the Top 10 simultaneously with his hit "One Heartbeat."
