"When You Say Nothing At All" is a beautiful country ballad originally recorded by Keith Whitley in 1988. However, Alison Krauss's rendition is perhaps the most well-known cover version. I was first introduced to this song (both versions) when I worked at FM106 in Milwaukee. The first time I played Alison's version, I fell in love with it. Alison's rendition is so soft, genuine, and beautiful. I would get excited whenever I saw it on the music log during my shift. I was never a fan of Country music, but this track helped me start enjoying the format.
This song also happens to be my wedding song. My wife and I have been married for 18 years today. Although life at the present moment presents some challenges for me, I would not change our lives at all. We were blessed with two amazing kids who keep us on our toes. When life is challenging, it's good to know that her smile on her face lets me know she loves me.
