One of my favorite tracks from the 90s Alternative scene is The Song of the Day.
Released in 1990 as part of their acclaimed album "Ritual de lo Habitual," "Been Caught Stealing" quickly became a fan favorite. The track is a high-energy anthem with an infectious groove, playful lyrics, and a memorable chorus. The song is about the thrill and adrenaline rush of shoplifting, narrated with a mischievous charm that only Perry Farrell, the band's enigmatic frontman, could deliver.
I love fun songs and fun music, and this song fits into all these categories. I don't condone stealing; it is right up there with lying. These are two qualities that I can't tolerate, but I love a fun song about it. I can't wait to get more into Jane's Addiction in future blog posts.
