Rick Springfield - Love Somebody

Jimmy has a good one for you today!

Rick Springfield will go down in history as the guy who sang "Jessie's Girl," but this man had a massive catalog of hit music. In 1984, Rick released his eighth studio album, "Hand to Hold," which was the soundtrack to the movie of the same name. The album produced three Top 40 hits, "Bop 'Til You Drop," "Don't Walk Away," and today's Song of the Day, "Love Somebody." The movie grossed 11 million at the box office but was panned as the normal "Rock Star" movie and was not received well by the critics. "Love Somebody" is a song about trying to find romance with another person. I love songs that convey this message in an upbeat manner. This song is a classic 80s Pop Song; You never hear this song on FM radio anymore; you never hear any Rick song other than "Jessie's Girl," this is a DAMN SHAME. This track is a much better song. The video is pure 80s cheese, but the song is a JAM. "Love Somebody" was a huge hit for Rick, reaching #5 on the Hot 100.

Honestly, I have never seen "Hand to Hold," but maybe I should. It took me almost 30 years to see Purple Rain, so it may be the right time to check this one out. If you think Rick is just "Jessie's Girl," you are so wrong. Rick has a successful acting career with General Hospital and has starred in 3 movies, many television shows, and 17 Top 40 hits.

I am lucky enough to run an internet radio station and am not scared to play this and all of Rick's catalog. Check out The Variety Station today.

FM Radio, PLAY MORE RICK!
